Instant Rose Peda

A super easy recipe to make rose peda. These are made with a handful of ingredients and comes together in 15 minutes. Plus, these are shaped to make them super chic!

  • In a pan add ghee and heat it.
  • Add the milk powder and sweetened condensed milk and stir.
  • Let the mix cook till it thickens. Keep stirring intermittently so it does not stick.
  • Once the mixture starts to thicken, add the rose syrup and mix.
  • The mixture will thicken further on cooking.
  • Add the cardamom powder and remaining ghee. Mix well.
  • Once the mix begins to leave the sides of the pan, turn down the flame.
  • Keep turning the mix to cool it down quickly.
  • Once the mix cools down completely, divide it into equal sized balls.
  • Press one ball into a mooncake press and make the peda on a cookie mat.
  • Make the pedas till all the mix is used up.
  • Let the pedas remain uncovered for 10 minutes so they dry enough and have the signature dry top.
  • Transfer to an airtight container or enjoy straight from the cookie sheet!

Notes

  • Make sure the milk powder is not very old. Old mawa powder tends to make the pedas stale. If in doubt, lightly dry roast the powder before using in the recipe.
  • Rose syrup is easily available in Indian stores. These are great for the bright color, flavor and taste. However, any brand of rose syrup that is available on Amazon can be used too.
  • If you cannot find rose syrup, add some edible pink color and rose essense to replicate the flavors.
  • Turn down the heat immediately once the mixture thickens. Cooking it further will yield chewy pedas.
  • While using a mooncake mold makes the pedas chis, they can be made into simple rounds and enjoyed too.
  • The nutrition information is for each peda. Suggested serving is 2 pedas per person.
