Papdi Chaat Dip

A variation of the classic seven layer dip; this Papdi Chaat Dip has all the flavors of chaat in a dippable form.
Serve it with papdi, chips or just enjoy with a spoon!

  • In a bowl add Greek yogurt, sugar and chaat masala.
  • Mix well and set aside.
  • In a bowl add an even layer of seasoned yogurt. Spread it out.
  • Next, add diced onions.
  • Then add the sweet tamarind chutney.
  • Finely diced tomatoes go in next.
  • Next we add cilantro chutney followed by diced potatoes.
  • Then we add red garlic chutney.
  • We top this with sev or bhujia.
  • Finally, we top with diced green mango, pomegranate, cilantro and chaat masala.

Notes

  • The dip is best prepared a couple of hours before serving. As it stands, the chutneys make the veggies perfectly moist. It stays well for 24 hours.
  • I like to make this dip in a clear glass shallow container. That way the dish is a true visual treat! Make in any container of your choice.
  • Serve this with papdi, tortilla chips, potato chips etc. The same dip can be served in chaat baskets too.
  • Adjust the amount of veggies and chutneys as per your taste. The dip can be made spicy, medium or less spicy.
  • The chutneys should be slightly thick. If it is runny, the layers will all mix in.
